Infertility

Experiencing infertility can be traumatic for individuals and couples. It may even have you questioning the very reality you observe, or leave you feeling unable to handle things coming at you on a daily basis.  Don’t allow fertility issues to rob you of your joy!

Infertility treatments are very demanding physically, as well as draining mentally and emotionally.  Artificial reproductive treatments, can be emotionally overwhelming, uncomfortable and intimidating.  Some of the normal feelings associated with infertility, and the ability to sustain pregnancy, include:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Shame
  • Guilt
  • Anger
  • A sense of isolation
  • Jealousy of others who can conceive easily
  • Frustration with yourself, your partner and the process
  • Low self-esteem
  • A sense of loss of control

The stress you’re experiencing causes your body to release specific hormones. These are typically adrenaline and cortisol, which can be just as disruptive to our minds, as they are to our bodies. Counseling is an effective means for improving your ability to cope, exploring the impact of communication between you and your partner, the connection you share, reducing stress and promoting overall well-being. Moving forward, and to allow for long-term, positive change and personal growth, we will explore the connection between our thoughts, feelings and behaviors. A better understanding of these connections helps us to achieve total well-being, mind, body, and spirit. You are more than this medical diagnosis!

Substance Use & Relationships

Substance use affects all relationships. When someone important in your life is struggling with substance use it can often lead to the following occurrences:

  • Trust issues
  • Feelings of confusion, frustration, anger, hurt
  • Emotional trauma & neglect, fighting with self and/or others
  • Miscommunication or Misunderstanding
  • Decline of own mental health and over all well-being

Don’t let someone else’s substance use harmfully impact you. It can be very overwhelming and daunting to try and be supportive of this important person let alone be able to separate yourself from their problems. It is not about you until you make it about you.

I have worked extensively with those struggling with substance use so I get it from their point of view. My real passion is in supporting and guiding you through this difficult time. Through different therapeutic techniques, evidence-based practices and psychoeducational material, you will get through this challenging time. I’m here to help you heal. Whether your person is actively trying to be substance free or is substance free, sometimes it can leave emotional hurt, trauma, and anxiety lingering. You are not alone. Get the support and guidance today to increase understanding, compassion, and to learn a more effective way of prioritizing yourself as well as this important person throughout this journey.
